Description
This Automatic Plant Watering System is designed to keep your plants healthy by monitoring soil moisture and supplying water only when needed. Using an Arduino microcontroller, the system detects when the soil becomes dry and activates a mini water pump automatically. It helps save water, reduces manual effort, and ensures consistent moisture for home gardens, farms, and indoor plants
Components
-
Arduino Uno – Acts as the central controller and processes sensor data.
-
Soil Moisture Sensor – Continuously checks the moisture level in the soil.
-
Relay Module – Controls the switching of the water pump safely + Jumper wires .
-
Water Pump – Provides water to the plant whenever required.
-
Power Supply (5V–12V DC) – Powers the entire system.
-
LCD – Display the working status of the system (pump ON/OFF, moisture detected, etc.).
HOW ITS Works
-
The soil moisture sensor reads the current moisture level and sends the data to the Arduino.
-
When the soil becomes too dry, the Arduino activates the relay module.
-
The relay turns ON the water pump, allowing water to flow to the plant.
-
Once the soil reaches the desired moisture level, the Arduino automatically switches OFF the pump to avoid over-watering.
-
This process runs continuously, maintaining balanced soil moisture for healthy plant growth.
